It’s back!!! The U.O.X. PLAY series rocks on with U.O.X. PLAY LIVE featuring some of the hottest indie acts around the region bringing down the house.
Held on March 14 at Republic, Sunway Pyramid in Petaling Jaya from 8.30 pm onwards, the latest installment of U.O.X. PLAY LIVE showcases bands from the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia.
Top lining the bill are two excellent and well-established bands from the region – veteran indie rockers Rivermaya from the Pearl of the Orient and Seven Collar T-Shirt (7CTS) from our base here in Kuala Lumpur Rock City.
Touted among the most influential bands in their native Philippines, Rivermaya’s musical direction has evolved through simple rock, hard rock, pop, progressive, and other genres. The band has recently gigged and released work in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia; garnering the attention of indie fans throughout Southeast Asia.
Malaysia’s premier indie noiseniks 7CTS gear up for their impending debut UK tour with a couple of live shows around the Klang Valley, including this one for the U.O.X. PLAY series. Currently, 7CTS are working on their eagerly-awaited third album. Think Radiohead meets At the Drive In to get an idea of the band’s adventurous but melodic musical ballpark.
Making up the rest of the bill on the night are two more acts from the Philippines – Nu Metal types Chicosci and indie pop quartet Taken By Cars – as well as up-and-coming melodic indie noise rockers Deserters from Malaysia, and last but certainly not least, The Upstairs, a spiky, flamboyant new wave act hailing from Jakarta, Indonesia.
The gig will also feature super cool art and design installations by Bright Lights At Midnight (BLAM), an independent graphic design studio established in 2006 that is heavily involved in eye-catching graphic and multimedia design.
